A piece of legislation introduced in January to the 109th NE Legislature proposes updates to food handling and fire safety requirements in bed and breakfasts operated in the state. Of interest to our members are changes to the State Fire Code that would require either a secondary egress for every guest room or a fire sprinkler system covering guest rooms and common areas, with an eighteen month time frame in which to comply following the effective date of the act.
